The importance of temperature monitoring and the best way to prevent hypothermia


There are some researches show that 36.5℃ to 37.5℃ is the average core temperature of the human,it must remain stable all the time,because changing of the core temperature may cause a deterioration of the vital functions.Especially during the operation with anesthesia, hypothermia probably cause a variety of postoperative complications:
• Coagulopathy
• A reduced metabolic rate
• Angina pectoris
• Cardiac arrhythmia
• Ischaemic tissue damage 
• Myocardial infarction 

In addition,all of these physiological compliance may cause the excessive loss of blood,wound infection and lead to higher mortality.

Therefore,it is very necessary to use the disposable esophageal temperature probe or skin temperature probe for the intraoperative temperature monitoring in anesthesia operation, the patients’ body temperature also must be continuous monitored after surgery.

Here are some pre-warming measures with passive technique, all of them are safe and effective. Then the anaesthesia team can use these measures to prevent or treat hypothermia as soon as possible. 
• Increasing the environment temperature of the operating room
• Prepare some warm clothing for the patient
• Using the preheated bed to warm the patient bodies

Only those methods above are not good enough, pre-warming measures can not reduce the presence of hypothermia without temperature monitoring, it is impossible to take measure in time with accurate judge if not use temperature monitoring staff.

On balance,the best way to prevent hypothermia is using disposable esophageal temperature probe,skin temperature probe and foley catheter temperature probe to monitor patients temperature and take warming measures in time.
